Lunkin Parent Letter

It is with great honor and excitement that I have accepted the position of Interim Principal for Frank D. Moates Elementary!  This year marks my seventeenth year in education and my ninth year serving as the Assistant Principal at Moates where I have truly grown to love the students, staff, parents and community that are a part of this outstanding school. Many of you already know this but before coming to Moates, I was certainly no stranger to DeSoto I.S.D.  I began my educational career in DeSoto in 2002 as a Special Education teacher at West Middle School. I served as the Special Education Department leader for five years before accepting my first administrative position as an Assistant Principal at West. I served in that capacity for two years before coming to Moates.

We only have a few short months left in the school year in which we will be focusing all of our attention and efforts on three main goals: Increasing our student’s achievement; cultivating a positive learning environment for our students and staff; and getting you and our community more involved in the educational experiences we planned for the spring.

It is important to me that you know that I am fully committed to the expectation that our students come first.  They are the reason we are all here. Each and every decision that is made here will be measured against this commitment and the support it carries in attaining our goals.

Again, I am so excited about these next few months and the work ahead. This transition will in no way affect our student’s educational environment nor my willingness to be available to you or to the students.  I know that with your support and our commitment to excellence everyday, the possibilities will be far-reaching for each of our students!

Humbly submitted,
